What We're About

Our Mission

Our aim is to deliver healthy meals to clients' homes at a reasonable price. As well as a delicious, nutritious meal, our volunteers provide social contact and a friendly welfare check three days a week.

Who can access our service.

Meals on Wheels is available to people in their senior years, (over 65 or over 55 if you are aboriginal, Torres Strait islander or south sea islander), recovering after hospitalisation, a major illness or surgery, a person with a disability, a carer, or needing assistance due to a special circumstance.

NDIS funding can also be used to pay for the preparation and delivery costs of meals provided by Meals on Wheels.

COUNCILLORS AND LOCAL MEMBER VISIT OUR CLIENTS

On Friday, September 1, Councillor Michelle Wright and Andrew Willcox, our Federal Member, accompanied our delivery vollies on their meal runs. They both enjoyed the experience immensely and I know the clients enjoyed catching up with them as well.

Unfortunately, Mayor Julie Hall could not make it on the day but she will be visiting on Octobe 9, so clients will have a chance to meet her then.

UNDERCOVER PARKING AND CONCRETE DRIVEWAY WELOME ADDITION

Thanks to the wonderful support we receive from Abbott Point Operations and Kennedy Masonic Lodge, we have been able to carry out further improverments to our kitchen which have made the job of our volunteers a lot easier.

We now have a covered front carport for loading and a concrete driveway all the way from the entrance. Both will prove valuable in the wet season keeping our volunteers dry and our yard free of mud.

Thanks too to Rod Nilsson for a job well done!

QUEENSLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GRANT PROVIDES FUNDS FOR NEW

Earlier this year our laptop computer finally gave in to exhaustion and we were fortunate enough to receive grant funding from the Queensland Community Foundation to purchase a new laptop and pay for our ongoing internet connection costs. We are grateful once again to the Foundation for their continued support.
