Finally after lots of effort and the wonderful support of Kennedy Masonic Lodge and their charity arm, Hand Heart Pocket, our brand new dishwasher is now fully operational. What a wonderful help for our volunteers! It is so easy to use and is efficient, fast and hygienic! Thanks also to Darcy Lowcock Plumbing and Jaryd Lindsay for their wonderful donation of work on the installation and Ralph from Reward Hospitality and Adam from AdFab Cannonvale for supplying the unit and stainless fittings. And we must also mention our new greasetrap which was funded by Whitsunday Regional Council, was installed by John Fortunato who did a fantastic job!
Once again the Bowen Lions Ladies have given us a generous donation toward our running costs. We know that it has been very difficult for local charities to continue their fund-raising efforts in the last twelve months so we are extremely grateful to the Lions Ladies for their continuing support.
During the week commencing May 10, we had great pleasure in delivering sanitising products to each of our clients. Each pack contained antiseptic wipes, sprays and gel compliments of Reckitt Benckiser. Delivery to Bowen was facilitated by our local Woolworths store who also provided re-usable bags.
Jenny Brazil is pictured delivering the pack to Stan Jensen, one of our wonderful Meals on Wheels clients.
On every new car registered, when Bowen Mazda apply CTP insurance Suncorp will donate $25 to a local not for profit charity of your choice! How amazing is that, giving back to the local community!!

Great news!!! We have just received funding from Hand Heart Pocket which will enable us to purchase a commercial dishwasher for our kitchen. This donation comes to us thanks to the wonderful ongoing support we receive from Kennedy Lodge, Bowen Freemasons, who initiated the application to their Queensland charity arm. Staff, volunteers and clients are very grateful for this fantastic support. We eagerly wait to be able to post photos of the new dishwasher in action.
At a recent luncheon our organisation was presented with a $3000 donation from Kennedy Masonic Lodge. We would like to thank them for their continued support.
We are very happy and proud to announce that our very own BERYL READ has been named as the Queensland Meals on Wheels "Mary Lowe Living Legend Award" recipient for 2020.
This annual award is given to a person who has dedicated their services to Meals on Wheels in Qld for 30 years or more. I’m sure you all know Beryl well and join us in congratulating her. Beryl was presented with her trophy by Qld Meals on Wheels Chief Executive, Evan Hill, at a luncheon at the Central Hotel which was attended by MOW members from Bowen, Collinsville, Mackay and Proserpine.
We would like to extend our congratulations to Beryl and our sincere thanks for the many hours she continues to dedicate to our organisation.
